Since I wear my MBT’s, all pain is past
I received my first pair of MBT (Kizumu sandal) in late April 2008. Since this day I have kept wearing them except in bed. The pains that I was suffering from for months and years are gone. E
A few days ago I played tennis again for the first time since I have my MBT, and put on good fitting tennis shoes with special insoles designed by a podiatrist: horrible pain during play and the following night made me look for my antiinflammatories.
My problems are located in the left foot and in the lower back. I have left mid foot osteoarthritis, so bad, that at one time last year I asked my older son (orthopaedic resident) to inject me. The injection hurt like hell, and brought relief for a few days only. I was contemplating midfoot fusion already. For years I am also suffering from left ISJ osteoarthritis, clearly visible on x-ray and CAT scan. Again I was already considering fusion or denervation. Multiple injections have not helped. Pain was especially crucial during walking.
Since I wear my MBT’s, all pain is past. I tell this as a critical and experienced trauma surgeon. I am not easily to convince, but the effect was amazing. It was also logical to me, as I found that my problems were caused by increasing (aged 58) immobility of all joints, but – as the podiatrist told me – especially of my ankle. Now the MBT’s compensate for the ankle immobility and allow the whole chain to function much better. They actually gave me back the pleasure of walking, something I was missing for a long time. I really enjoy walking with my youngest son, and I am increasing distances daily.
Another important aspect is MBT and sports. I was told that MBT is not offered for sports as mostly all sporting activities do require a firm stance. All sports outside the professionell world do require firm stance, but even more so mobility and easy movement. And this is guaranteed by the MBT. From my own experience as surgeon I know how much strain is put on the Achilles tendon in tennis, badminton and squash. I operated hundreds of torn Achilles tendons in middle-aged ambitious amateur players just because they did put too much strain on the tendon. Wearing the MBT makes an Achilles tendon tear practically impossible, and this is fantastic news for all of us! We can do what we want, without running that risk.
On conclusion: the moment I heard about the MBT I was interested, as the concept seemed logical to me. Having them now for more than three weeks, I can state that all my expectations were met. As I pointed out above: in a professional life with over 30 years experience now I was confronted with many new promising concepts: the MBT is the first innovation in years that really convinced me.
